Background of the Study
Birnin Magaji LGA, located in Zamfara State, has faced significant challenges to political stability, largely due to persistent conflicts between various groups, including farmers and herders, as well as insurgent activities (Sani & Ahmed, 2024). These challenges have led to a volatile political environment where governance is continually disrupted by insecurity and instability. Conflict resolution efforts, both at the community and governmental levels, have been pivotal in attempts to restore peace and ensure political stability. However, despite the efforts, such as dialogue between stakeholders and government intervention, the region continues to grapple with unresolved tensions (Bello & Muhammad, 2023). This study explores the challenges to political stability in Birnin Magaji LGA, specifically assessing the effectiveness of conflict resolution strategies employed by both traditional and governmental bodies.
